Why are both Wi-Fi hotspots and Bluetooth required to establish a connection?
Bluetooth is used to find nearby devices quickly and easily. The Wi-Fi hotspot or portable hotspot feature is used to send and receive files. The Wi-Fi hotspot will be immediately turned off once file sharing is completed.
Can’t find sender/receiver or can’t connect
To properly work with the ShareMe application, it must meet the following conditions on both devices:
- Devices must support “portable hotspot”
- Both devices should allow location access permissions
- Make sure to turn on Wi-Fi Hotspot
- Turn off VPN service if enabled.
If the above requirements are met and still cannot connect, try switching the sending and receiving roles of the devices to connect.
Wi-Fi Hotspot won’t turn on?
First, make sure your device supports the “Portable hotspot” feature. Some devices will take a longer time to turn on the hotspot to connect. It is due to compatibility issues with some Android mobile devices.
- Try relaunching ShareMe application
- Try rebooting your device
- Try switching sending and receiving devices to connect.
Cannot connect after selecting the profile photo?
Close the ShareMe application on both devices and try to relaunch it.
Why ShareMe use Bluetooth during file transfers?
Bluetooth is used to find nearby devices. Bluetooth will be automatically turned off once the transfer is complete.
File transfer speed is too low?
Make sure devices are close to each other, if not bring devices closer to and check the transfer speed.
What to do if file transfers are interrupted?
You will see the “Connect again” button once the file transfer gets interrupted. Select the “Connect again” button to establish the connection between the two devices. Then select Resume to begin the transfer.
Why do file transfers get interrupted?
There are many reasons for interruptions. Sometimes it is due to a virus guard or background application of any of the two devices affecting the connection. Sometimes location may cause network interferences. Changing location also helps to improve connection quality and to have fewer interruptions.
How to transfer files to a computer?
- First open the ShareMe application on your Android mobile device.
- Select the top right menu button to see available options. You will see the “Connect to computer” or Connect to PC” option. Select it.
- Select the “Connect” or “Start” button to create an FTP connection. The name will differ based on the version of the ShareMe application.
- Make sure the computer and Android mobile connect to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Enter the shown FTP address on a browser or file manager of your computer.
- You will see files on your phone on your computer. Select and download files on your Android device to your computer.
How to run ShareMe in the background while transferring files?
You can’t run this application in the background while transferring files. Because the Android system stops background services. It may work for small file transfers and not for large files.
Can’t find the files
There is a delay in showing just taken photos and videos on the ShareMe file manager. You can either relaunch this application or wait longer till it appears. Make sure to grant permission to access your gallery.
ShareMe Does not support Android Tablets
ShareMe application requires a “portable hotspot” feature to work. Most Android tablets do not have a “portable hotspot” feature. Those tablets do not work. Tablets with a “portable hotspot” or able to create a “Wi-Fi hotspot” will work.
How to send files to multiple devices?
You cannot send files to multiple devices with this application.
Where are the received files?
By default, all the received files are stored inside the application ShareMe folder. You can use the “Received files” feature of the ShareMe application to view all received files. Apart from using this application, you can also use File Manager, Gallery, etc. to find received files.
